Making a difference in the lives of others through fundraising by following the core values of compassion, dedication, youth and humanity.
The Beagle Open is a 501 (c)3 charity organization seeking to make a difference in the lives of others through fundraising for the Boy Scouts of America. Since its founding in 2007, the Beagle Open mission has been driven by the core values of compassion, dedication, youth, and humanity. Each year, the Beagle Open hosts a golf outing in memory of Gary Betzler. Previously, the outing supported the Gary Betzler Memorial Scholarship at Bishop Foley High School to help students afford tuition.
In 2015, the Board decided to expand their impact on the community by working closely with the Boy Scouts of America regional Great Lakes Field Council ScoutReach program. This program helps with yearly registration for scouting organizations in financial need, and directs additional funds for the continual operations of scouting.
Gary, along with his two sons, was very involved in scouting. He served as Assistant Scout Master for a local troop. His passion for education encouraged many scouts, including his sons, throughout their scouting careers.
